Camping World Stadium Orlando Tickets

Camping World Stadium events and its Orlando roots

Camping World Stadium began as a Works Progress Administration project in the 1930s. Known first as Orlando Stadium, it became the Tangerine Bowl and later the Florida Citrus Bowl before adopting the Camping World name in 2016.

The first college bowl game here was played in January 1947, when Catawba College faced Maryville College. College football has remained an important part of the venue's identity, alongside professional sports and large touring concerts.

A stadium shaped by successive rebuilds

A major reconstruction in 2014 renewed most of the ground. The project introduced chair-back lower-bowl seating, continuous concourses, large video displays, a plaza deck and indoor and outdoor club spaces. Further upgrades followed in 2021, continuing the transformation of the older stadium.

The published production plans distinguish field, plaza, club, suite and terrace levels. These names describe different layers of the venue, from positions around the event floor to elevated sideline seating and hospitality spaces.

The latest improvement project is another stage in that longer redevelopment. Its design includes replacement upper seating on the east and west sides, a new northern upper bowl and a retractable stage pocket within the south seating area. These are project plans, with construction updates published separately by the venue.

Football, wrestling and stadium concerts

The ground served as the University of Central Florida's home from 1979 to 2006. Its wider event history includes NFL Pro Bowls, FIFA Club World Cup matches, WrestleMania and Monster Jam World Finals, bringing different sports and productions into the same large outdoor setting.

Past concert performers include Paul McCartney, the Rolling Stones, Bad Bunny and The Weeknd. Music also forms part of the wider campus programme, with outdoor fields supporting festivals as well as the events inside the stadium. Explore more concerts on TixChoice.

The surrounding stadium campus

Tinker Field lies directly west of the stadium. Built in 1914 and named after baseball player Joe Tinker, it is listed on the National Register of Historic Places and has hosted music festivals.

Other outdoor spaces include McCracken Field to the south-west, Thunder Field to the south-east and Festival Field to the east. Together they make the site a broader sports and entertainment campus rather than a single enclosed event footprint.

The stadium is west of downtown Orlando and north of State Road 408. Its production guide gives the address as 1610 West Church Street, with venue directions covering approaches from Interstate 4, State Road 408 and Orlando International Airport.
