Chase Center Events and Home Teams

Chase Center, in San Francisco's Mission Bay neighborhood, is home to the Golden State Warriors and Golden State Valkyries. Beyond basketball, it hosts concerts, family shows and special performances. The Warriors own and operate the building, and part-owner Peter Guber oversaw its design.

Warriors History in the Bay Area

The franchise began as the Philadelphia Warriors in 1946, became the San Francisco Warriors in 1962 and took the Golden State name in 1971. Early Bay Area seasons rotated through the Cow Palace, USF Memorial Gym, the San Francisco Civic Auditorium and Oakland Coliseum Arena. Oakland Coliseum Arena became the primary home from 1971; apart from 1996-97 in San Jose, the team stayed in that Oakland building, later known as Oracle Arena, until 2019.

Building and Opening

In May 2012, Warriors chairmen Joe Lacob and Peter Guber announced plans for a privately financed San Francisco arena. In April 2014 the team chose 11 acres of private Mission Bay land, agreeing to buy it from Salesforce. The Chase Center name was announced in January 2016, and the groundbreaking ceremony followed on January 17, 2017. Requiring no public subsidies, it was billed as the only fully privately financed U.S. arena or stadium on private land in two decades.

A ribbon cutting opened the doors on September 3, 2019, and the grand opening concert three days later paired Metallica with the San Francisco Symphony. The Warriors' first game of the 2019-20 season was their first in San Francisco since 1971, and former Warrior Joe Ellis, part of the last Warriors team to play a home game in the city, rang a cable car bell to launch a new tradition.

Chase Center Seating Plan and Clubs

An NBA.com report on the 2019 regular-season debut described a Frisbee-shaped arena with wide concourses. The building has six clubs and 136 suites, and for Warriors games several clubs are tied to specific seats:

• JP Morgan Club: VIP AA and VIP BB ticket holders, via Portals A and B.
• Chase Club: tickets in sections 2-23.
• United Globe Club: sections 101-106 via Portal 4, one of the largest club spaces.
• Ultra Club: sections 113-118 via Portal 15, with the arena's only two-story bar.
• Modelo Cantina: open to all fans via Portal 40 stairs on the upper concourse, with expansive court views.

Thrive City and Travel

The arena anchors Thrive City, an 11-acre complex of publicly accessible plazas, restaurants and shops created by the Warriors and Kaiser Permanente.

Event tickets include all-day Muni fare. The T line serves the arena, with extra S trains on event days, and the Central Subway connects it with Union Square/Market Street Station. The 78X bus links 16th St Mission BART, Caltrain's 4th and King station is a 15-20 minute walk, and home-game ferries from Oakland and Alameda reach Pier 48, a 15-minute walk away.
