Citi Field Flushing Tickets

Citi Field tickets and the Mets' Queens home

Citi Field opened in 2009, taking over from neighbouring Shea Stadium as the New York Mets' home. The new ballpark was built on former parking-lot space at Willets Point, on the north side of Flushing Meadows-Corona Park.

Its first public event was a college baseball game in March. The Mets began their inaugural season here in April, with David Wright recording the team's first hit at the ground. The move continued the club's long association with Queens while introducing a different ballpark from the circular Shea Stadium it replaced.

The Jackie Robinson Rotunda

The main entrance honours Jackie Robinson and draws on the design of Brooklyn's Ebbets Field. The rotunda celebrates Robinson's contribution to baseball, connecting the newer Mets park with an earlier chapter of New York's National League history.

Photographs and supporters' memories helped the architects develop the space when the original Ebbets Field drawings were unavailable. The result is more than an entrance route: the rotunda forms a prominent tribute within the ballpark's architecture and gives visitors arriving from the subway a recognisable first view of the building.

Distinctive places around the field

Citi Field's seating extends from field-level sections to the Excelsior and Promenade tiers. Outfield destinations add other perspectives, including Big Apple Reserved in centre field. The upper-deck concourse has a food plaza behind home plate, while the Excelsior level includes a lounge overlooking the home-plate area.

The Home Run Apple is one of the Mets' best-known traditions. A larger version of the Shea Stadium feature rises beyond centre field after a Mets home run. The orange foul poles provide another visual link with the club's previous home.

Baseball moments and the ballpark atmosphere

The stadium hosted its first World Series games in 2015. That postseason also brought Citi Field's first playoff game, against the Dodgers, giving the park its own place in Mets history beyond the memories inherited from Shea.

Its setting adds a distinctly Queens backdrop. Aircraft approaching nearby LaGuardia Airport are visible beyond the outfield, while Mr. Met remains part of the ballpark's game-day identity. For a different kind of live performance, explore concerts on TixChoice.
