Delta Center events and the arena's changing names

Delta Center was built in 1991 as the home of the Utah Jazz. The building later carried the EnergySolutions Arena name, adopted in 2006, and the Vivint Smart Home Arena name from 2015. It has since returned to its original Delta Center identity.

The arena's history is one of adaptation. A major renovation took place in 2017, followed by changes in 2024 to accommodate Utah's arrival in the NHL. Basketball and hockey now share the downtown venue through the Utah Jazz and Utah Mammoth, alongside concerts and other entertainment.

Seating for basketball, hockey and live music

Delta Center publishes separate basketball and hockey maps. Its concert options include lower-bowl theatre, in-the-round and end-stage configurations. These plans reflect different ways of using the event floor and surrounding seats, rather than one permanent arrangement for every performance.

The building has six seating levels, with redesigned concourses and cushioned bowl seating among its established upgrades. On the roof, solar panels form part of the arena's energy infrastructure, while LED video technology supports the event presentation inside.

A dual-sport transformation

Smith Entertainment Group began a further multiyear renovation in April 2025, intended to adapt the building more closely to the different footprints of a basketball court and hockey rink. The programme followed the earlier changes made for the arrival of professional hockey.

In September 2026, the operator reported the rebuilt upper-north end zone as part of the second phase. Terrace-style seating there creates a nearly vertical perspective over the playing surface. The project is part of a wider transformation, so completed work in that area is distinct from later stages of the programme.

Plaza landmarks and the downtown setting

Outside, an illuminated Jazz Note sculpture and a large hockey-puck sculpture introduce the arena's two sporting identities. They lead towards the America First Atrium, whose team store carries both Jazz and Mammoth merchandise. The sculptures give the entrance plaza recognisable meeting points beyond the general arena address.

Delta Center is at 301 West South Temple, west of downtown Salt Lake City. Temple Square, the Salt Palace Convention Center, restaurants and hotels are within the surrounding walkable area. For other live performances, browse concerts on TixChoice.
