Gainbridge Fieldhouse Indianapolis Tickets

Gainbridge Fieldhouse events and Indiana basketball

Gainbridge Fieldhouse opened in 1999 and serves as home to the Indiana Pacers and Indiana Fever. Its exterior recalls the fieldhouse gymnasiums found across Indiana, connecting a professional sports arena with the state's wider basketball culture.

The downtown Indianapolis building also stages concerts, high-school championships, ice shows, rodeos and major gatherings. Big Ten basketball tournaments and the national FFA convention are part of its wider event history, giving the venue uses that extend beyond its two professional teams.

A fieldhouse renewed around the audience

The Fieldhouse of the Future renovation reshaped the arena's interior while retaining its established identity. Populous developed new hospitality areas, opened parts of the seating bowl towards the concourses and introduced social viewing spaces with sightlines to the court.

The work also changed the lower bowl. Original green seats were replaced by dark grey seating, and a retractable seating system was installed at the north end. A new centre-hung scoreboard introduced video displays, LED rings and screens underneath, changing the visual focal point above the playing floor.

Rather than organising every experience around enclosed suites, the redesign introduced a broader mix of gathering areas throughout the building. The connection between concourse spaces and the action is one of the most visible features of the renewed fieldhouse.

Indiana stories in the artwork

Local artists contributed work exploring the people and moments associated with basketball in the state. The venue's art programme includes themes such as the Milan Miracle, Crispus Attucks, the Pacers' ABA championships and the Fever's 2012 championship run.

These works make Indiana basketball history part of a walk around the building. They place the professional teams alongside high-school traditions and community stories, reflecting the fieldhouse's role within the wider state rather than only the games on its own court.

Bicentennial Unity Plaza and the downtown setting

Bicentennial Unity Plaza is a public space beside the fieldhouse, with landscaping, art installations and a court used for basketball in summer and ice skating in winter. It commemorates Indianapolis' bicentennial and extends the venue's gathering spaces outdoors.

The arena is at 125 South Pennsylvania Street. A covered skybridge connects it with the Virginia Avenue parking garage on the north-east side, while other downtown parking areas sit within the surrounding street network.
