Hard Rock Stadium Miami Gardens Tickets

Hard Rock Stadium tickets and its South Florida roots

Hard Rock Stadium opened in 1987 as Joe Robbie Stadium, creating a new home for the Miami Dolphins. Robbie led the financing campaign, with club seats and executive suites forming an important part of the original stadium model.

The venue was conceived for multiple sports. The original architects developed a reconfiguration system for football and baseball, and the Florida Marlins later shared the ground. The stadium's first regular-season Major League Baseball game took place in April 1993.

A canopy above an open-air field

A major renovation changed the spectator experience in the 2010s. The first phase replaced the seating and rebuilt concourse areas, while sideline seats moved nearer the field. A lightweight canopy followed in 2016, becoming the stadium's most recognisable architectural addition.

The canopy covers the spectator areas around the bowl while leaving the centre open to the sky. Four large video boards were installed as part of that phase. The result retains an outdoor stadium setting while adding shade over much of the audience seating.

HOK's modernization introduced new viewing environments around the stadium. These included the Field Club, North Sideline Club and corner terraces, alongside the renewed regular seating areas.

The 72 Club occupies a midfield location on the south side. The stadium also introduced Living Room boxes with recliner seating, creating a different format from conventional rows. These spaces form part of a broader range of stadium settings rather than one uniform seating experience.

The redevelopment took place over separate offseasons, allowing the Dolphins to keep playing home games during the work. Later suite upgrades continued the transformation of the original building.

Football, music and other landmark events

The stadium hosts Dolphins football, University of Miami football and the Orange Bowl, alongside international soccer and concerts. Its first Super Bowl was played in January 1989, and its baseball history includes the 1997 World Series.

Past concert performers have included the Rolling Stones, U2, Beyoncé, Elton John and Billy Joel. That music history sits alongside the ground's long role in major American sporting events. Explore more concerts on TixChoice for performances at other destinations.

The Miami Gardens location

The stadium's visitor address is 347 Don Shula Drive, Miami Gardens. It sits north-west of downtown Miami, within the wider South Florida region, rather than in the downtown waterfront arena district.
