Nashville Predators tickets and the franchise’s beginnings
The Predators’ franchise date is June 25, 1997, and their first NHL season was 1998-99. Nashville’s arena had opened in 1996, providing a home before the team began playing. The Predators became its primary tenants in 1998, bringing NHL hockey into a venue already used for other entertainment.
The club’s early identity included the saber-toothed tiger logo unveiled in 1997. From those first seasons, the franchise developed into a team that would reach the Stanley Cup Final and win the league’s regular-season championship, with goaltending becoming a significant part of its story.
Pekka Rinne’s route to Nashville
Pekka Rinne came from Kempele in Finland. Nashville selected him in the eighth round of the 2004 NHL draft, after his development in Finnish hockey. He spent parts of three seasons with the Milwaukee Admirals before establishing himself with the Predators, gaining experience in the American Hockey League along the way.
His NHL debut brought a win against Chicago in December 2005. By the 2008-09 season he had become Nashville’s starting goaltender. Rinne played his entire NHL career with the Predators, giving the franchise a long-serving figure whose career stretched from its developing years to its biggest team achievements.
The Final run and regular-season breakthrough
In 2017, Nashville won the Western Conference championship and reached the Stanley Cup Final for the first time. Rinne was part of that run. The following season brought the Presidents’ Trophy for the best regular-season record and the Vezina Trophy recognising his work in goal.
Those team and individual honours placed the 2017 and 2018 seasons among the important chapters in Predators history. Rinne’s final regular-season appearance in 2021 was a shutout against Carolina, closing his playing career with the club after fifteen NHL seasons.
A legacy beyond the crease
The Predators retired Rinne’s number thirty-five in February 2022. A statue was unveiled on the Bridgestone Arena plaza the following year, giving his connection with the club a place outside the rink as well as within its history.
Rinne also worked with former captain Shea Weber to launch the 365 Pediatric Cancer Fund, supporting the children’s hospital at Vanderbilt. His community contribution was recognised with the King Clancy Memorial Trophy in 2021. These commitments form another part of his Nashville legacy alongside the saves and individual awards.
Watching hockey at Bridgestone Arena
Bridgestone Arena hosts Predators home games as well as a wider programme of concerts and major events. Its history includes the Country Music Association and Country Music Television awards, linking the hockey venue with Nashville’s established live-entertainment identity. The same arena has also hosted SEC basketball tournaments.
