Paycom Center Oklahoma City Tickets

Paycom Center events and arena history

Paycom Center opened on 8 June 2002, after construction began in spring 1999. It was the premier project of MAPS, Oklahoma City's capital improvement programme for sports, entertainment, cultural and convention facilities. The City of Oklahoma City owns the building, and the city credits the downtown arena with helping bring major league professional sport to Oklahoma City.

The building has carried several names. The MAPS Sports Arena became the Ford Center through an April 2002 naming agreement with Oklahoma Ford Dealers. It was renamed Chesapeake Energy Arena on 22 July 2011, and became Paycom Center on 27 July 2021.

Home of the Oklahoma City Thunder

The Thunder have played here since the 2008-09 NBA season. Before that, the arena was home to the New Orleans Hornets during the 2005-06 and 2006-07 NBA seasons. It has also hosted the Oklahoma City Blazers of the Central Hockey League and the Oklahoma City Yard Dawgz of arenafootball2.

Seating levels and layout

Spectators sit across three levels. Upholstered padded seats are designed to give an unobstructed view of the event floor, which sits 22 feet below street level. Concerts can be staged in the round or with the stage at one end, with a compact theatre layout among the available configurations. This means the seats in use change with the event.

• Lower bowl: telescopic retractable seating and wider leather seats.
• Club level: terrace suites on the north and south sides, plus terrace lounges.
• Bunker suites: added on the lower levels, at event level and entry level.
• Upper level: a redesigned concourse with new floors and lighting.

When you face the stage or playing surface, seat 1 is always the farthest right in each row.

Renovations and upgrades

High-definition broadcast wiring and new lighting were finished before the Thunder's first home game. Concession areas were upgraded during 2010. MAPS 4 later funded upgraded seating throughout, new retractable seating and improved scoreboard technology. The city reports that these improvements are complete.

Historical concerts and shows

In its first twelve months, the arena hosted the Rolling Stones, Paul McCartney, Fleetwood Mac, the Elton John and Billy Joel tour, and two Eagles performances. That year it made Pollstar's Top Ten concert venues for North American ticket sales. Televised events have included WWE's Unforgiven in 2005. In 2008, the Radio City Christmas Spectacular made its Oklahoma City debut during its first arena tour.
