Toyota Center Houston Tickets

Toyota Center events and Houston's basketball home

Toyota Center opened in October 2003 and occupies six city blocks in downtown Houston. It is home to the NBA's Houston Rockets and also hosts major concerts and touring productions. The Rockets' own story began in San Diego in 1967; the franchise moved to Houston in 1971, decades before the current arena opened.

The path to Toyota Center began with a Harris County referendum approved in November 2000. Construction broke ground on July 31, 2001, and the first regular-season basketball game followed on October 30, 2003. Those milestones place the building within the longer history of professional basketball in the city.

The sunken arena bowl

The playing surface sits nearly 32 feet below street level. Large windows are another feature of the building, whose lower bowl is a prominent part of the interior design. Around the arena, named hospitality spaces include the Lexus Lounge, Golden Nugget Club and Sire Spirits Social Club.

The basketball layout and the concert layouts use the same building in different ways. Toyota Center publishes a Rockets seating chart as well as several concert configurations. These include half-house and three-quarter-house layouts, a one-third-house arrangement and end-stage charts labelled 180, 270 and 360. They describe different uses of the event space rather than one fixed concert plan.

All-Star games and arena milestones

Toyota Center hosted the NBA All-Star Game in 2006 and again in 2013. The Latin Grammy Awards came to the arena in 2008, adding a major music-industry occasion to its basketball history.

In 2010 it became the first professional sports facility in Texas to receive Silver LEED certification, recognising its environmental performance.

Arriving in downtown Houston

The arena address is 1510 Polk Street. The seven-storey Toyota Tundra Garage stands on its south side, with entrances from Jackson Street, Leeland Street and La Branch Street, and a private skybridge used by premium guests. The garage's street entrances have their own GPS addresses, separate from the arena's Polk Street address. Surface parking is also available in the surrounding area. The venue's directions page provides a map of the local streets and current travel information. For a wider choice of live performances, browse concerts on TixChoice.
