Vegas Golden Knights tickets and club history

The Golden Knights came into existence in June 2016 when an ownership group led by William Foley, his family and the Maloof family received an NHL franchise for Las Vegas. George McPhee began building the club as general manager that July and appointed Gerard Gallant as its first head coach in April 2017. The new organisation was owned and operated by Black Knight Sports and Entertainment.

NHL records place the team’s first playing season in 2017-18.

An extraordinary first playoff run

Vegas won its division in its debut season, becoming the first modern-era expansion team to start from scratch and do so across the four major North American professional leagues. Three playoff series victories then carried the club to the Stanley Cup Final, the first NHL expansion side to reach that stage since St. Louis in 1968. Vegas also won the opening game of the Final. The Southern Nevada Sports Hall of Fame recognised the team among its 2019 inductees, preserving that inaugural campaign as a defining achievement in the region’s sporting history.

Vegas won the Stanley Cup in 2023. Its American Hockey League affiliate plays in Henderson.

The meaning of number 58

The club’s retired number 58 honours the victims of the October 2017 Las Vegas shooting. The NHL’s franchise history records the tribute alongside the team’s other milestones, making it a permanent part of the Golden Knights’ identity.

Golden Knights hockey at T-Mobile Arena

T-Mobile Arena opened in April 2016, before the Golden Knights’ first season. A joint venture between AEG and MGM Resorts International, it was developed as a multipurpose sports and entertainment building. The arena hosts other sports, including UFC, as well as concerts, giving it a place in the wider Las Vegas entertainment scene.

Seating and the arena’s different levels

The building includes club seating, tiered loge seats, private clubs and a party deck. Bunker suites offer another distinct type of hospitality space, while an upper-deck nightclub reflects the arena’s Las Vegas setting.

Premium balconies on public and VIP levels overlook the adjoining plaza, park and Strip. The arena lists accessible facilities on every level, with food and drink options distributed throughout the building.

The plaza and Strip location

The arena stands just west of the Strip. Its naming agreement was announced in January 2016, ahead of the building’s opening. The neighbouring Toshiba Plaza was planned as an outdoor entertainment space with a stage and video screens, extending the venue’s public gathering areas beyond the entrance doors.

Populous designed the arena, which broke ground in May 2014. The venue identifies Toshiba Plaza as a setting for pre-event functions and special events, linking the approach to the building with its larger entertainment programme.
