About Chelsea vs Liverpool Tickets

Chelsea and Liverpool first met in 1907. FA Cup afternoons at Stamford Bridge and repeated Champions League ties in the mid-2000s gave the fixture a sequence of matches with trophies and final places at stake.

Chelsea’s 1982 FA Cup win came with John Neal’s side in the Second Division and Liverpool reigning European champions. Peter Rhoades-Brown and Colin Lee supplied the goals at Stamford Bridge. Later, the clubs’ European meetings brought José Mourinho and Rafael Benítez into the same rivalry, extending it beyond domestic football.

Chelsea vs Liverpool: the 1997 FA Cup comeback

Chelsea recovered from a half-time deficit to beat Liverpool at Stamford Bridge in 1997. Mark Hughes and Gianfranco Zola brought the teams level before Gianluca Vialli scored twice to complete the turnaround. The match helped put Chelsea on the road to winning the FA Cup, making it a notable home chapter in the fixture’s history.

In 2008, Chelsea advanced through a Champions League semi-final against Liverpool after extra time at the Bridge, reaching their first final in the competition.

The 2005 Champions League semi-final

Liverpool had prevailed in the earlier European semi-final, with Luis García’s early goal at Anfield proving decisive. Steven Gerrard’s pass and Milan Baroš’s intervention helped create the opening, while Jerzy Dudek later saved Frank Lampard’s free-kick. Liverpool progressed under Benítez, leaving Chelsea’s new league champions out of that European final.

Stamford Bridge seating guide

Stamford Bridge’s four principal stands are the East, West, Matthew Harding and Shed End. The two side stands follow the touchlines; the Matthew Harding and Shed are behind opposite goals. Their tier labels identify different viewing levels within those areas.

Safe standing is identified in the lower Matthew Harding Stand and the Shed End’s upper and lower tiers. The access guide also distinguishes Westview and East Stand lower viewing platforms, so an accessible place is a specific position rather than a general stand description. A listing’s full location and supporter designation give a clearer comparison than a stand name alone.
