About Everton vs Liverpool Tickets

Everton against Liverpool is the Merseyside derby, a fixture with roots in the city’s nineteenth-century football history. The first league meeting took place at Goodison Park in 1894, with Anfield hosting the return later that year. Hill Dickinson Stadium supplies the home setting for Everton here, continuing the derby in a new ground after its long Goodison chapter.

The rivalry has also travelled beyond the city. FA Cup semi-finals took it to Villa Park, Maine Road and Old Trafford, while Wembley staged League Cup and FA Cup finals. Those different venues show how a local meeting became part of the wider story of English knockout football, with national trophies as well as city pride at stake.

Everton vs Liverpool: Goodison’s shared football history

Tom McInnes scored the first Merseyside derby goal, followed by Alex Latta and Jack Bell as Everton won the opening league encounter. Liverpool were also the opponents when Goodison’s floodlights were first used in 1957, making the fixture part of the ground’s technical development as well as its competitive history.

The 1966 Charity Shield brought a remarkable pre-match scene. Everton captain Brian Labone carried the FA Cup, Liverpool captain Ron Yeats the league trophy, and England teammates Ray Wilson and Roger Hunt displayed the World Cup. It was a moment when the clubs’ domestic achievements and their players’ international success appeared together at Goodison.

Cup meetings away from Merseyside

At Maine Road in 1950, Bob Paisley and Billy Liddell scored to send Liverpool through an FA Cup semi-final. The same ground later hosted the replayed 1984 League Cup final, decided by Graeme Souness. Wembley also staged the all-Merseyside FA Cup finals of 1986 and 1989, giving the rivalry major occasions beyond its familiar home grounds.

Hill Dickinson Stadium seating guide

The East and West stands offer touchline perspectives. The East Stand faces Budweiser Plaza and includes pitch-level and elevated accessible platforms, while the West Stand contains the dressing rooms and media facilities. Visiting supporters occupy the lower north-east corner across the North and East stands.

The South Stand is Everton’s designated home end. Its steep bank is divided between rail seating in the lower section and seated accommodation above, with Everton Way outside. The lower standing section and upper seated section are different matchday environments. The ticket’s named section and supporter category therefore matter alongside the general stand description.
