About Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City Tickets

Nottingham Forest vs Manchester City pairs European Cup-winning clubs at the City Ground, where the Trent End and the touchline stands offer distinct views of the meeting. Comparing ticket prices alongside the stand and level helps you choose how to watch the contest in Forest’s longstanding home.

Forest’s origins date to an 1865 meeting of Nottingham shinney players at the Clinton Arms. Their choice of Garibaldi red became the club’s colours, and a move to the City Ground followed in 1898. The stadium has remained part of the club’s identity through successive generations of rebuilding.

Brian Clough’s side won the European Cup in 1979, defeating Malmö in Munich with Trevor Francis’s header. The campaign had begun by eliminating holders Liverpool. Forest successfully defended the trophy against Hamburg in Madrid the following year, making consecutive European titles a defining achievement in the home club’s history.

City reached their own European landmark in 2023, winning the Champions League for the first time against Inter. Rodri’s goal secured the final and completed the treble, placing that campaign alongside the visitors’ domestic success.

Stuart Pearce’s connection to both clubs

Pearce spent twelve years at Forest, much of that period as captain. After later spells with Newcastle and West Ham, he finished his playing career at Manchester City, helping them win promotion back to the Premier League. He then coached under Kevin Keegan before becoming City manager.

The City Ground’s physical history adds another dimension to a visit. Its main stand was rebuilt after a 1968 fire, while the Trent End was rebuilt in 1994 as the ground became all-seater. For another opponent at this venue, explore Nottingham Forest vs Chelsea tickets.

City Ground seating guide

The Brian Clough Stand runs along one touchline and separates upper and lower blocks. The main stand faces it across the pitch, offering the opposite side-on perspective. A higher side block looks down across the teams’ movement rather than directly towards one goal.

The Trent End occupies one end, facing the opposite goal-end stand where visiting supporters are housed in a separately marked lower section. The stadium plan distinguishes those away blocks from the upper and corner areas. Choosing between a touchline, an end and a corner changes the angle, while the level determines how elevated that position is.
