Wolves tickets at Molineux
Molineux has been Wolverhampton Wanderers' home since 1889. Its name predates the football ground: the site was associated with Molineux House and pleasure gardens before Wolves moved from Dudley Road. The first match as tenants was a friendly against Aston Villa, followed soon afterwards by the ground's first Football League fixture.
The club's old gold identity and city-centre home make a Wolves match a distinctive visit. Successive rebuilding projects changed the stadium around the same site, from Archibald Leitch's work in the 1920s to the redevelopment supported by Sir Jack Hayward in the 1990s. Today's stands carry names that connect those phases with figures from the club's history.
Molineux's four main stands
- Billy Wright Stand: the Waterloo Road side of the ground, offering a touchline view and named after the Wolves and England captain.
- Steve Bull Stand: the opposite side, carrying the name of one of the club's best-known forwards.
- Stan Cullis Stand: the North Bank end, redeveloped in 2012 and named for the manager behind the club's great post-war side.
- Sir Jack Hayward Stand: the South Bank end, remembering the owner who backed the rebuilding of Molineux.
The side stands give a view across the pitch, while the North and South Bank ends follow play from behind the goals. Different levels within the ground change the height of that view. The ticket's named stand and block locate the offer more precisely than a general reference to a Molineux seat.
The Cullis and Wright era
Wolves were established in 1877 and became founder members of the Football League in 1888. Stan Cullis took over as manager in 1948, with Billy Wright central to the team that made the 1950s a defining period in the club's history.
Cullis led Wolves to the league championship for the first time in 1954. Further titles followed during his tenure, alongside FA Cup success. The names around the stadium are therefore reminders of achievements on the pitch as well as practical signs for supporters finding their seats.
The museum and the rebuilt ground
Sir Jack Hayward bought Wolves in 1990 and supported the construction of three new stands. The redeveloped stadium reopened in 1993. A later addition, the Wolves Museum, opened in 2012 inside the Stan Cullis Stand, presenting the club's history through objects, archive material and displays.
A museum visit is a separate experience from admission to a live fixture. For a match, the event page identifies the ground and ticket offers available for comparison. The club's home matchday guide maps the approaches from bus and rail stations as well as the stand entrances.
